Living Room & Children’s Bedrooms

The brief

A growing family of four, and a living room that wasn’t working hard enough for them. My client wanted a space that finally felt like home — somewhere to gather for board games, host friends, and spend proper time together as a family, without the clutter and lack of storage getting in the way.

Upstairs, her sons’ bedrooms told a similar story: no real zoning, nowhere dedicated to study or unwind, and rooms she wanted them to grow into rather than outgrow within a year or two.

The approach

In the living room, I reworked the seating layout entirely — opening it up for hosting and family games nights, and carving out a cosy reading corner looking out over the garden for quieter moments. The media wall became the room’s new focal point, full of character rather than an overflow of storage, and two commissioned textured art pieces bring the dramatic, luxury feel that ties the whole open-plan space together.

Upstairs, each bedroom was reconfigured to maximise space and create proper zones. The first room was layered with textured wallpaper for depth, an upholstered bed, considered lighting and practical storage. The second was given bespoke joinery, its own dedicated study and reading space, and the same timeless, wallpapered warmth — both designed to reflect each boy’s personality today, and grow with him.

The result

A home that isn’t just beautiful to look at, but genuinely lived in — games nights, movie evenings and quality time together as a family, exactly as my client had hoped for. Both boys love their new rooms.
